Dr. Benjamin Foster, Psy.D
Each of us will face a time in life when we need help to get back on track. I believe in the transformative nature of an empowering therapeutic relationship to help steer individuals through struggle towards healing and growth.
I specialize in creating a warm and supportive therapeutic environment that fosters a genuine and trusting client relationship. From there, I take a multicultural approach to my work, striving to understand the realities of a client’s cultural identities first and foremost. I believe that a person’s unique identities will direct a personalized and meaningful therapeutic experience.
I work with individuals and couples of all ages, and treat a range of challenges with a focus on depression and anxiety, trauma, identity development, life stages changes, romantic relationships, and family dynamics. Additionally, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients and individuals who have suffered significant life trauma such as: sexual assault, cultural traumas, family/domestic abuse, abusive romantic relationships, and adverse experiences in childhood.
I bring years of clinical experience having worked previously with teen and young adult students at Lake Forest College, Elmhurst College, and Metropolitan Preparatory High School in Arlington Heights. Additionally, I specialize in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, which can help clients gain a deeper understanding of mental health diagnoses and resulting impacts.
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and a B.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University.
