When we let things blur—we also let them compound and build—many times causing stress and resentment. Thus, we must clarify personal boundaries—both physical and mental.
Wearing a mask and watching your distance is a selfless act. It communicates to others that you care about their wellbeing, too. It demonstrates solidarity, empathy and respect to the communities in which you live and interact.
This year especially, with city and community fireworks being canceled due to COVID, we must all remain aware of how these changes might impact those suffering from PTSD.
We “yes-ers” must learn to create healthy, compassionate boundaries in our lives to keep our energies focused on what matters most. This does not necessarily mean we must cut back and do less-- but it does mean we must do “smarter” and “healthier.”
Sometimes our juggle may fail. We only have limited amounts of energy and focus to achieve everything, and energy is constantly pulled from one task to the next.
