Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations provide insight into a person’s unique psychological and intellectual characteristics. It is an efficient, accurate and objective way of gathering information that can take many months to get from other methods such as psychotherapy. It offers insight into the severity of a particular problem and the capacity for adequate functioning. An assessment is often helpful to people who have not been helped by psychotherapy, are stuck in their lives, have significant problems in relationships or jobs, suffer from emotional deregulation, or think they have serious psychological issues.

Psychoeducational evaluations

Psychoeducational evaluations help to identify issues that hinder one's ability to learn and perform at optimal potential. This evaluation measures an individual’s functioning and how it impacts academic success. A psychoeducational evaluation is used to measure an individual’s cognitive (i.e. intellectual) abilities, academic achievement levels, and information processing abilities. It can determine whether an individual has a learning disability impacting academic performance. A full academic treatment plan is provided post evaluation and may include academic accommodations, classroom and testing accommodations such as preferential seating, extended time on in class and standardized exams, and subject tutoring.

Neurodevelopmental evaluations

Neurodevelopmental evaluations provide an in-depth assessment of skills and abilities linked to brain function with respect to age and developmental timelines. They measure executive functioning such as attention, problem solving, memory, language, I.Q., visual-spatial skills, and social-emotional functioning. Neurodevelopmental evaluations are helpful in diagnosing deficits in personal, social, and occupational functioning, ranging from lack of control over learning and executive functions, to global impairments of social skills or intelligence. These assessments can help identify intellectual disability, communication disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, neurodevelopmental motor disorders, or other specific learning disorders. A full treatment plan is provided post evaluation which can included therapy, academic accommodations and executive coaching.
